M365 Changelog: Announcing Teams PowerShell Module 2.0

MC244740 – We are excited to announce Version 2.0.0 of Teams PowerShell Module. The release is available at PowerShell Gallery | Microsoft Teams 2.0.

When will this happen:

Version 2.0.0 of Teams PowerShell Module is available now for download: PowerShell Gallery | Microsoft Teams 2.0

How this affects your organization:

The release has many new features, fixes and breaking changes. The main ones are:

  1. We have simplified the administrator experience by having Connect-MicrosoftTeams as the single command to login and manage all aspects of Teams and Skype for Business online. This means New-CsOnlineSession is no longer required to login and manage Skype for Business Online.
  2. New-CsOnlineSession has been replaced with Connect-MicrosoftTeams.  This will require a minor update from your side and make changes as documented here.
  3. Long running scripts are supported natively in the module. Administrators don’t have to explicitly call Enable-CsOnlineSessionForReconnection to run long running scripts.

What you need to do to prepare:

Update to Version 2.0.0 of the Teams PowerShell Module: PowerShell Gallery | Microsoft Teams 2.0

Note: as announced in MC230065 (Dec ’20) all Teams administrators should transition to the Teams PowerShell Module as they will no longer be able to use Skype For Business Online Connector Module after May 15.
